As Madonna’s Celebration Tour comes to a close, the Queen of Pop took time to reflect on her impressive career, her children’s support, and the hospitalization that nearly led to her death. During a recent event in Mexico, she brought Frida star Salma Hayek to the stage as she did with other celebrities on previous dates. She posted a video of herself and Hayek serenading the audience while penning a heartfelt tribute to her dear friend and her fans.

“The last show of the tour ended in Mexico City in the most magical way. Frida Kahlo came to visit and made me the happiest girl in the world.! Not only was my show complete in Mexico- but my entire artistic career!! For she has always been my Eternal Muse Cheering me on through the good Times and the bad,” she wrote. “Thank You @salmahayek for making it possible. and Thank You to my fans, not only in Mexico but all over the World. Madonna is a dedicated mother of six children aside from her successful career— Lourdes, Rocco, David, Mercy, Stella, and Estere. Before her final show on tour, Madonna expressed appreciation for her kids, their involvement in the celebration tour, and for supporting her when she suffered a bacterial infection. “On the day before our 80th show of the Celebration Tour I need to acknowledge my incredibly talented children who carried me through this journey,” she stated.

Acknowledging their skills, she also thanked her children for “bringing their own unique talent to the stage.” Four of Madonna’s six kids have consistently performed with her on tour— David as a guitarist, Mercy as a pianist, and Estere as a voguer. “Rehearsals began over a year ago with almost a two month break waiting for me to recover from a near-death experience,” the proud mom added. “They never stopped practicing… they never stopped cheering me on and supporting me.”

Amid her health challenges, the “Material Girl” crooner was inspired to keep working by her children, who “were also going to school and rehearsing every night!!”

“Their enthusiasm kept me going!!! I am so very proud of all of them,” she added, alongside a carousel of snaps from different moments throughout the Celebration tour.

The multiple award-winning singer noted that her children have learned a lot from working with her and she is excited to see what they become in years. “I think what my children learned the most this year of rehearsing and performing is that if you want to follow your dreams, you have to work hard for them,” she gushed, concluding her lengthy heartfelt tribute. “And if all of them choose something different later in life, they will never forget this year of blood, sweat, and tears. Nor will I. It’s a CELEBRATION!”
