Madonna recently hosted guests at her manager Guy Oseary’s house in Hollywood Hills, California, for her annual Oscars after-party. As is expected of the Pop Queen, she dressed so glamorously and nearly “over-the-top” that her appearance received mixed reactions from fans.
The “Material Girl” singer shared photos from the event, including one with award winner Cillian Murphy, captioned, “Oscar Party was FUN! Not exactly a night off for a Girl that I need a night off, but I’m so happy I got to meet my favorite A.C.T.O.R! #cillianmurphy—Congratulations!”

Madonna’s outfit featured a Christian Lacroix corset designed for her 2004 Re-Invention World Tour and a huge updo blonde wig. She posted several snaps, including one featuring a guillotine and her legs parted in front of it. “The guillotine pic is hilarious,” a follower commented.

Others commended her confidence to wear whatever she wanted in her sixties and her fun-loving personality. “One thing about Madonna is she 65 and still living her best life like she did when she was 25,” a fan noted. “This is so good. I guess nobody wanted to leave you alone. You are the ICON,” another added, referring to the sign she held in her photos that read “Leave me alone, I’m tired.”
Although many found Madonna’s appearance at her exclusive star-studded soiree gorgeous, some critics thought she was looking botched. “Of all the dresses she could have chose, why this?” a curious Instagram user asked. “What has she done to her face?” another questioned the singer, who received guests like Miles Teller and his wife, Keleigh Sperry, Oscar nom Lily Gladstone, Jennifer Lawrence, Oscar nom Colman Domingo, Chris Rock, and Matthew McConaughey that evening.
An unimpressed fan also penned a note to the mother of six, telling her that she should embrace aging. “With lots of millions, of course. But why try to make others to believe that this perfect skin and face is yours? Are you ashamed to age ma? Thought you were a revolutionary…but nope, just another fashion victim of the system,” the concerned user wrote. As usual, Madonna does not care for criticism and continues to dress however she deems fit.
