Shirley MacLaine Enjoys Lunch With Friends Ahead Of 90th Birthday

89-year-old Shirley MacLaine was spotted with friends on the patio of Kristy’s Malibu restaurant near Zuma Beach, California last Wednesday. The Terms of Endearment star let out a big laugh as she and her assistant shared the heartwarming moment with pals.

Shirley, whose birthday is about a week away, looked joyful as she observed the dogs walking by and asked their owners for a better view. A female employee soon joined their table and gave Shirley a neck massage as she chartered away.

Shirley wore a sweater with orange, brown, and red stripes and a red fleece over it. She also wore pink pants, and carried a small Coach canvas pouch which contained her iPhone. As she crossed the plaza hand in hand with her assistant, a fan told Shirley she looks “great,” to which the Postcards From The Edge actress responded heartily saying, “Hey, I had two vodka martinis at lunch!”

Model Angelique “Frenchy” Morgan, who was on Big Brother UK and VH1’s 2008 Rock of Love Season 2, was also at the restaurant. “I had come from the beach to get something to eat. I couldn’t believe it was her! I waited until they were done and just went up and said ‘I’m such a fan and could I have a photo?’” she narrated to Daily Mail, adding that Shirley complimented her outfit. “So I told her, ‘I love yours too!’ and pointed to her pink pants and sneakers,” Frenchy said in her thick French accent.

True to her youthful nature, Vanity Fair described Shirley as “a guru, iconically kooky, a brave firebrand, a vulnerable mystic, and true earthy broad” last year. She began her seven-decade acting career at 19 after director Alfred Hitchcock gave her a role in 1955’s The Trouble With Harry. She has since graced screens and even written about her past life as a harem girl in Turkey, an androgynous being in the mythical nation of Lemuria, a Muslim refugee in Spain, and more.

Months ago, the mother of one moved to her oceanfront home in Malibu after selling her $3.4 million ranch near Santa Fe. Shirley seems to leave an endearing trail everywhere as even the real estate listing called her “an American Icon, renowned for playing loveable, quirky characters and known for her books on such topics as reincarnation and metaphysics.”
