Is This Time Travel? Portrait Of King Henry VIII Shows Him With Greggs Steak Bake From The Future

A social media user on X, formerly Twitter, identified a couple of Greggs steak bake pastries in a photo of long gone English king, Henry VIII. More specifically, the king seemed to be wearing them as shoes, and the rather puzzled person named Luke asked, “Why do Henry VIII’s shoes look like a Greggs steak bake?”

The bakery chain caught wind of Luke’s discovery and wittingly responded with reference to what Henry was known for— beheading his wives and adversaries. “Losing our heads over this,” the outlet’s spokesperson wrote. Luke’s post soon sparked a debate on whether time travel is real or not.

Some claimed that King Henry VIII was in fact wearing a cheese and onion pastry, not a steak bake. “I’m losing my head because it’s cheese and onion it’s being compared to! Not a steak bake,” someone retorted. Another joked in response saying, “It was how the nobles kept their feet warm.”

“…there was no central heating back then. Commoners had to make do with a raw turnip shoe,” they added.

It was comic relief to many, including a user who asked Greggs to “now expand into footwear.” “Maybe also make gloves out of 5 sausage rolls sown together,” they jested. “It’s funny because they’ve related it to actual historic events. Fantastic stuff, what a day,” another added.

The debate on time travel comes a few weeks after Greggs’ customers in Twickenham, London raised concerns about losing their pastries, especially sausage rolls, which the outlet claims to sell at five pieces a second, to crows. A concerned resident named Ricky Craig Pound took to Facebook with a “word of warning to anybody who eats food whilst on the go in the center of Twickenham.” “On four occasions recently I have been attacked by crows from the back trying to get food from my hand,” he noted.

A woman was said to have suffered scratches from the creatures, which tore bacon from her sarnie. “This is particularly prevalent in Church Street and near Greggs. I have heard from one local business that this has become a real problem in the last few months. If it happened to a child this would really scare them. Not sure what the answer is but I will be contacting the council,” Ricky added.
