Recently, the acclaimed actress offered insights into her condition’s profound physical and emotional impact, especially on her daughter. She noted that despite the considerable hurdles posed by MS, she is bravely embracing and living with it as her new reality.

During a guest appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live, the 52-year-old spoke about how hard it’s been coping with the disease. She thrilled the audience with a joke during the discussion as she got up on the stage with a walking stick, saying, “I was thinking, wouldn’t it be funny if I came out and I did a somersault like Willy Wonka? And then I was like, ta-da, you’d be ”What a b****. She is such a liar.’ I’m not. I literally am disabled.”

When questioned about how she has been managing Multiple Sclerosis, Applegate humorously confessed that even though it has been challenging, dealing with the condition has unexpectedly become one of her most memorable experiences. “I mean, it sucks. I’m not going to lie. And I think anyone who has MS isn’t going to be like, ‘This is the best thing that ever happened to me.’ It really isn’t, because that would mean you have a really crappy life if the best thing that ever happened to you is something like this,” she told the host and the audience humorously. “It was a joke. You guys don’t get me! ”

The actress says her health condition is affecting her relationship with her daughter

Applegate also shared that MS has been affecting her relationship with her 13-year-old daughter. Reflecting on their past dynamic, filled with lively moments and being fully engaged in Sadie’s life, she expressed regret at the stark reality of her current physical limitations, which have dramatically made most of it nearly impossible now.

This is not the first time Applegate has expressed concern regarding the toll MS has taken on her parenting journey. In a previous interview with People magazine, the actress talked about the challenges of living with multiple sclerosis, expressing how it impacts her ability to fulfill her role as a mother to her daughter. “She’s had to see the loss of her mom in the way that I was a mom with her,” Applegate admitted. “Dancing with her every day. Picking her up from school every day and working at her school, working in the library. Being present out of the house, out of my bed. She doesn’t see those things anymore. This is a loss for her as well. And we’re both learning as we’re going along.”
