Kelly Ripa sported a dress that showed off her figure and her underwear at the Academy Awards
-year-old Kelly Ripa is unafraid of trying out all sorts of new styles, and she uses some high-profile stages to show them off. The 96th Academy Awards took place on Sunday, March 10, and Kelly Ripa showed off her figure and her underwear in a hip-hugging dress of sheer black lace and flair.
At her side was, of course, Mark Consuelos. The duo continued to exude as much charisma as they did when co-starring on All My Children, the soap opera that showed off two love stories at once with this particular Hollywood pair. Indeed, Ripa has 3.4 million followers on Instagram — where she shared some photos of her most glamorous looks from awards season – but her biggest, most consistent fan is Consuelos.
The Oscars enjoyed their highest viewership in four years, fueled by the buildup of last summer’s Barbenheimer phenomenon, but Ripa and Consuelos easily turned heads amidst the night’s excitement. The duo were dressed in coordinating black, with Kelly wearing a lacy black dress featuring several sheer patches that effectively showed off her underwear, while Consuelos looked sharp in a sleek black suit and dapper necktie.
Audrey Slater-Spiegel styled Ripa. The figure-hugging gown was by Jason Wu and featured a flowing statement piece train. Ryan Trygstad was responsible for Ripa’s hair, per routine, and had her wear it in loose golden waves in a side part framing her face, which was made up with a subtle smoky eye and salmon lip gloss.
As for jewelry, Ripa kept it simple yet sparkly with a necklace by Jennifer Fisher, and some additional bling by Stephen Russell.
It takes a village, as they say, and both Ripa and Consuelos are transparent about all the hoops they — and others — must jump through to look their most glamorous for red carpet events such as these. Last week, Ripa took to Instagram to show off two images of her dressed in elegant gowns, with the latter being the sheer black number she wore for the Oscars. “By day and by night #Oscars glam,” she captioned the post.
“Thank you @christiansiriano and @jasonwu for the fantasy fashion @kristoferbuckle @ryantrygstadhair @audreyslaternyc,” she went on to say in tribute to her glam team.
Ripa and Consuelos are workout buddies who maintain an active lifestyle, but Ripa has also shared the menu she maintains for herself. For her, lunch looks like a salad piled high with greens, including avocado, sprouts, microgreens, and raw nuts, the latter of which she likes to snack on before and after her midday meal, because their abundant protein keeps her energy levels up. As for exercise, she’s stuck to the same workout routine for the last 13 years. It includes doing planks on top of a stability ball, doing ten reps of leg routines for three sets. These workout routines were designed by her personal trainer, Anna Kaiser of Anna Kaiser Studios, and is steeped in inspiration from dance.
At her side since their 1996 elopement has been Mark Consuelos, who was the new fish in the pond of All My Children, though that didn’t stop his pay from quickly eclipsing hers, a matter of contention between Ripa and the soap opera at the time. But you won’t find a more enthusiastic cheerleader for Ripa than Consuelos, who showers her social media posts with lovely messages of praise and adoration.
On one of Ripa’s Instagram posts showing off her red carpet look, Consuelos gushed, “Stone cold fox.” To this, Ripa immediately fired back with, “You are!” One fan solved the matter perfectly by responding, “Both of you are.”
Last year, these two also became partners in the workforce when Mark joined Live! after original co-host Ryan Seacrest stepped down; Seacrest has since been tapped to become the next host of Wheel of Fortune, replacing longtime gameshow veteran Pat Sajak. Kelly’s own continual work on Live! has earned her an impressive net worth of $120 million, but she brings something even more invaluable to the relationship between her and Consuelos seen on screen.
The easy banter of their relationship is put into the national spotlight — and it acts as a port of stability when Consuelos feels stage fright threatening to take root. Consuelos admitted to always feeling some level of nervousness before getting in front of the camera for the live show, but just as consistently, it’s always Ripa to soothe those troubled waters.
“Every show I get nervous, I breathe I look in your beautiful eyes, and I get to grab your arm and you grab mine and we go out there and it’s better,” he shared. As far as Consuelos is concerned, he got the better end of the deal. “Listen, I married way above my station,” he told Entertainment Tonight. “I’m the luckiest guy, I found her and I’m, like, ‘I’m hanging on for dear life.'”
The couple is also the proud parents of Lola, Joaquin, and Michael Consuelos, who have gone through most major life stages and left the TV hosts empty nesters. But holidays are still eventful affairs — more so, actually, as their kids bring home their partners. Rather than making for awkward dinners, it fills Consuelos’ heart with gladness.
“It was lovely…it was really nice people to spend time with. They did a great job,” Consuelos praised. “We love them all. I just was really proud of the fact that our kids wanted to hang out with us.” He further mused, “That’s kind of the goal after you raise them and we’re still raising them, but they’re adults, so we’re kind of done. They’re on their own for the most part, but I was just really thrilled and honored that my kids would want to spend time with me and my wife.”
He and Kelly are on the same page, with Ripa adding, “I have to say, our kids have such good taste.” When Consuelos called them “good pickers,” Ripa chimed in, “Like their mother!” before adding, “The boys brought their girlfriends, Lola brought her boyfriend.” Certainly, there are mysteries yet to parenthood and partnerships, but so far, everything has been not unlike a fairytale for all involved.
