Women With Grey Hair Need To Stop Making This One Mistake In Order To Look Their Best

In most people, greying hair is expected as they age; however, it is not a time to be neglectful of the care it requires. A YouTuber named Katie revealed the “big mistakes” women make while going gray via her channel, Katie Goes Platinum.

As a hair influencer, she shared her wealth of knowledge about how aging women can care for their locks as if they were changing. “A lot of us feel that once we go gray, we need to discard all the products we were using on our hair and start fresh with gray-friendly products,” she noted.

Katie advised that “if your current shampoo and conditioner are giving you the results that you want, you are totally free to keep using them until they run out.” She also urged women to stick to one product if it works for their hair, rather than be inconsistent. She also had specific tips for different hair types, particularly about the best shampoo for them.

The hair guru advised “brunettes who are going to go gray cold turkey,” saying, “The only product you might need to buy shortly after deciding to go gray is blue shampoo.” She also revealed that those who used dye to manage their hair might see their hair taking on an orange, brassy hue, which blue shampoo neutralizes.

Blue shampoo is the secret

Katie swore by blue shampoo to make “your hair look fantastic” as well as brighten the silver color. However, aging people whose hair turns yellow instead can go for purple shampoo and apply it once a week, followed by a deep conditioner to retain moisture. Sparkling Silver’s blog agrees with Katie’s statement, “Purple shampoo combats unwanted warm or brassy yellow tones from blonde hair.”

Sparkling Silver also echoed Katie’s tip on blue shampoo to “add shine” to formerly brunette hair. Katie says the general secret is to “avoid as many pitfalls as possible” on the “liberating” journey of going gray. “Let’s face it— if your journey goes smoothly you’re more likely to stick with it and reach your ultimate goal which is a full head of naturally silver hair,” she noted.
