McDonald’s is making big changes to its burgers, so customers will begin to notice a difference in taste, texture, or size in the coming months. The brand’s decision to touch things up will affect classic favorites like the Big Mac and Quarter Pounder with cheese and cheeseburger options like the double and triple.
It has been 50 years since the fast food chain last made such significant improvements in their meals, and this comes after their Australia and US markets responded positively to it. Now, the outlet is looking to implement these tweaks across the UK and Ireland with a promise of “even juicier burgers, served hotter.”
McDonald’s changing burgers for first time in 50 years — here’s what to expect
McDonald’s customers can look forward to “hotter and juicier” beef patties thanks to “tighter sear” on the grill, as well as more flavorful burgers as white grilled onions will be included on the meat. Fresh lettuce will add “that extra snap, crunch, and clean taste” as they dig into it, with the “pillow” textured “buttery” brioche-style buns holding all the goodness in place.

The Chief Restaurant Officer of McDonald’s UK and Ireland, Gareth Pearson, expressed the brand’s excitement to introduce our enhanced classic beef burgers. “We’re constantly innovating and improving our menu and we found that a collection of complementary small improvements to the iconic burgers make a significant difference to the flavor,” he shared.
Better customer experience
Aside from good food, Gareth promised “the best possible customer experience” thanks to the introduction of new kitchen technology. “Another big part of this transition has been around our restaurant teams and how we can support them,” he explained. “We’ve also retrained all 177,000 crew members on these new procedures to enable them to serve our best burgers yet.”
The improved options will be available in the targeted countries from mid-March, during which the Easter menu will be up for chicken burger lovers, too. The fast food chain announced that the “greatest” version of the McCrispy Deluxe will return on March 13, featuring a 100 percent chicken breast filet with crispy coating, and a hot and spicy mayo topping. The sourdough-style bun will also contain caramelized onion compote, seasonal lettuce, bacon, red onions, and a slice of cheddar cheese.
