At 20 years of age, Robert Irwin has already checked off some remarkable accomplishments in life, including the Wildlife Photographer of The Year People’s Choice Award 2020. But it was only very recently that Irwin made his first walk down the runway, just in time for the Melbourne Fashion Festival.
As the son of late zookeeper, conservationist, and TV personality Steve Irwin, Robert has been in front of the camera plenty of times discovering the wonders of Earth’s many inhabitants. Usually, the occasion called for khakis and other paraphernalia from the Australia Zoo. But for the Melbourne Fashion Festival, Robert donned not one but three very different outfits for his huge runway debut.

Melbourne Fashion Festival runs from February 24 to March 9 and is touted as Australia’s largest consumer fashion event. Right there was Robert Irwin. To start off, Robert walked down the runway wearing a deep blue dress shirt and tie, topped by a speckled black cardigan over black pants and polished black dress shoes.

Next up, he wore a bold combination of a black vest, a chunky white sweater, white pants, and black shoes. His glasses and the sweater tied over his shoulders evoked a high school, college prep look. Finally, Irwin strutted his stuff in a matching blue pants and suit combo, rounded off with a classy white turtleneck.
One surprising detail has fans going wild
The whole experience was surreal for Robert. Not long after, the wildlife photographer gushed on TikTok, “Never imagined I’d be walking the runway, but here we are! Wow, thanks for an amazing night Melbourne Fashion Festival!!”
But there was a different detail that had fans entertained for entirely different reasons than high consumer fashion. After his runway debut, Robert recorded his co-host Julia Morris making her own stroll down the catwalk. He did so using a flip phone, which has people online teasing, “That’s so mum of him.” Another praised, “He gives off such positive golden retriever energy.”
Yet another user defended the choice in technology, countering, “Flip cases are underrated asf ok u aint ever catch me with a cracked screen.”
