Ricki Lake is showing off the fruits of her hard work. Over the last several months, Lake and her husband, Ross Burningham, embarked on a wellness journey that has seen her drop 30 pounds. Now, Lake is proudly showing off the results in a leggy black skirt and sheer blouse outfit that has heads turning.
-year-old Lake attended the 74th Annual ACE Eddie Awards on Sunday, strutting down the red carpet at the ceremony held in Los Angeles. The event serves as a prelude and temperature read for the Oscars, which will be held on March 10.
Lake walked out onto the red carpet wearing a sheer black turtleneck that showed off a darker opaque sleeveless top. These matched perfectly with the hip-hugging black skirt she wore that came to rest above her knees, coordinating with a pair of knee-high black boots.
Lake kept things comfortably classy, classily comfortable, with her gray hair worn in loose short waves around her subtly made-up face. Finishing up the look for the evening was the deep red nail polish and modest yet shimmering silver jewelry.
Lake has thoroughly documented much of her 30-pound weight loss journey on social media, sharing not just photos or numerical updates but also messages of encouragement for others looking to enact change at any age. “On October 26th, 2023, I made a commitment to myself to get healthier,” Lake shared in a February Instagram post.
“My husband, Ross joined me in this effort. Together we have each lost 30+ lbs. I really want to share, because we did this without relying on a pharmaceutical. (Not that there is anything wrong with that),” she added. “But neither of us were pre diabetic and both of us felt like we wanted to at least try and do it on our own. Being 55 and in perimenopause, I was a bit worried, that my body would not drop the lbs like it had in the past. I am so so proud of us. I feel amazing. I feel strong.”
Earlier in February, Lake also celebrated her anniversary with the man who went alongside her on this fitness journey – on top of Valentine’s Day. “We are magic. Here we are in our mid 50’s, our 6 kids grown and out of the house and we feel like kids ourselves,” she has gushed about Ross.
