Country music star Shania Twain stunned fans with her new look as she switched her hair color and style to long pink waves. The fifty-eight-year-old complemented the youthful look with a cute black top, gorgeous eye makeup with the smokey effect, and pink glossy lips. True to her appearance, Twain’s caption reads, “Color my hair, do what I dare!” as she tagged the team behind her daring glam.

Fans could not get enough of Twain as they soon flooded her comments with praise and compliments. There were a few criticisms and questions, however, one could tell that Twain’s choice was welcomed by many. “Why is she such an absolute queen,” someone asked. “DAMN YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL,” another follower gushed. Twain seemed to be a hot topic among mutual social media users as they tagged each other to see her updated glam. “This look gives me Kardashian vibes,” a user gushed, comparing Twain’s to the signature looks of reality TV guru Kris Jenner’s daughters.

Amid the kind words, some fans deemed Twain’s hair and face unoriginal, with speculations of her delving into cosmetic enhancements. “Noooooo Shania!! You were naturally beautiful!” a disappointed user exclaimed. Another wished she would “stop doing work on her face” because it is “so unnecessary.”

Speaking of surgery, Twain told Hoda Kotb on a 2023 episode of Making Space With Hoda Kotb podcast that she has “come to a point where, no, I’m not gonna do it.” She added that although some of her friends have had successful procedures, the botched ones have scared her into remaining natural. “That was probably part of what pushed me to go, ‘OK, it’s time to start loving yourself in your own skin,” she explained. “What if I am one of those that doesn’t heal very well, then I’m gonna hate that about myself. Then I’m gonna regret doing it, and then, maybe I’m going to fall and cut myself, and I’m gonna need stitches, for real.”

When did Shania Twain come out?

Twain recently performed at the 2024 MusiCares Person of the Year event, where she paid tribute to rock legend Jon Bon Jovi. She arrived wearing a green sheer turtleneck top with matching shorts and a long blazer. The “You’re Still The One Singer” kept her hair short and tousled as she completed the look with black boots, gold jewelry, and red lips. The mother of one faced backlash from fans due to her changing appearance, her rendition at the awards ceremony, and her fashion choices.

Twain’s journey back into the spotlight comes after health battles, including two emergency scares and open-throat surgery to save her voice. “I didn’t know if I’d ever sing again. I thought my career was over,” she told the US Sun. The singer-songwriter had a severe case of COVID-19 pneumonia during the pandemic, which threatened her life and career. “It was a very dangerous time and very scary. I made it through, and I’m just so grateful,” she recalled last year. Years before the lockdown, Twain was diagnosed with Lyme disease, which weakened her vocal cords till she got it fixed in 2018. “I may not be able to sing forever…but right now, I’m just enjoying where I am,” she told People in 2022. She made music from the tragic experience as part of her sixth studio album, Queen of Me. Her self-titled debut album saw her initial emergence into the music industry in 1993.

Twain recalled her husband of over a decade being so worried about her when she was airlifted to the hospital while struggling with the virus and respiratory issues. “My husband was freaking out, to be honest. He was really panicking because he was the one having to pull it all together,” she said. “He spent hours and hours every day on the phone. It was just a real nightmare for him.” She referred to the experience as “science fiction” that “all kind of happened in slow motion.”

Is Shania Twain still married?

She credits her partner of over twelve years, Frédéric Thiébaud, for helping her recover quickly and return to work. “Wow, if I was living alone in a more isolated scenario, I don’t know what would have happened’. My heart goes out to people who don’t have that support to help them get the right care,” Twain said. The Queen Of Me track, “Inhale/Exhale Air,” was “a song of gratitude and appreciation” as she “was inspired that I still had air in my lungs.”

Residency experience in Las Vegas

As she celebrated the 25th anniversary of her record-breaking album, Come On Over, Twain set her sights on Las Vegas’ Planet Hollywood, where she is set to launch her third residency in May. “I have to be prepared for the spirit of the audience, because I do interact so much with them and I do bring them up on stage, I never know who I’m gonna meet and what I’m in for,” she said. Having had her first residency between 2012 and 2014 at Caesars Palace’s The Colosseum and her second between December 2019 and June 2020 at the Zappos Theater in Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino, Twain has gathered some wealth of experience performing in the City of Sin.

“I’ve learned that when you’re doing all of that, you’re vocally an athlete more than you’ve ever been before, and you need serious discipline,” she advised. “You’ve gotta earn your way in there. And it’s demanding. It’s the most demanding stage, I think, in the world. The standard is so high. The audience, they have so much choice.”

Twain’s upcoming residency titled “Shania Twain: COME ON OVER— The Las Vegas Residency— All The Hits!” is set to begin on May 10 at the Bakkt Theater in Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino. “It is a very special time for me. I am happier than ever to be on stage. I am just loving life, loving sharing my new music and just feeling really happy, and I am hoping to just get up there and bring some inspiration, more positivity,” an excited Twain announced on CBS Mornings. “All the hits will be on the show and hopefully we will just have a lot of fun together.”

The shows, scheduled to run until December 2024, will benefit a charity initiative named Shania Kids Can. In collaboration with Live Nation Las Vegas and Caesars Entertainment, Twain decided that $1 off each ticket purchase would go to the foundation. Fans may be seeing more of Twain as she assured about a decade ago that she “will be doing music for sure until the day I die.”
