Miley Cyrus looked stunning at the 66th Grammy Awards ceremony, turning heads with her bold hairdo. The singer wore a high bouffant with fanned-out layers in tribute to the 1960 Barbarella movie featuring Jane Fonda. “I wanted to create a look that felt fresh and modern while still drawing on inspiration from the past,” hair stylist Bob Recine said.
Like her hair, Miley’s dress also stole the show as she arrived in a gilded Maison Margiela dress which “took 675 hours of artisanal hand crafted work, 14,000 golden safety pins and is adorned with singularly selected French antique beads” per her Instagram post from the Grammy awards ceremony.
Recine talked about all the work that goes into his celebrity clients’ hair to Instyle, noting that the XXL Volume Hairspray from the Nexxus Styling collection helped create and keep the ‘do in place. “The finish is nice and soft while still giving me the strength that I need to make the hair stand and create the necessary volume for big hair like this,” he told the outlet.
For Recine, the goal was to help make Miley feel confident. “The hair is teased out and big but still a little messy and touchable to feel sexy,” he explained. “We’re not hiding the teasing; it’s a little punky, which kind of brings it into today’s world.” Miley’s hair was perfect for the night, and fans could not get enough of it, and her ensuing outfit change.
In a recent social media post, the actress thanked “my hair,” her stylist Bob Mackie, and her crew with photos of herself performing “Flowers” on the Grammys stage. Bob thanked her in the comments for having “brought my dress to life on The Grammys stage,” while fans gushed about how stunning she looked.
Lana Parilla wrote, “Seriously, you stole the show! All the Grammys for this Queen!”
“The hair was its own show,” someone else gushed. “Love the outfit. Hair is a bit of an 80’s vibe!” another agreed. Miley also got praise for her first Grammy award win as the Best Pop Solo performance act. “An absolute rockstar. u are the most deserving!! FINALLY!” a fan noted.
