Children of the late Superman star, Christopher Reeve, are a sole part of a new documentary about the legendary actor premiering at the 2024 Sundance Film Festival in Utah. Will, Matthew, and Alexandra appear in Super/Man: The Christopher Reeve Story, which reveals Reeve’s rise to stardom and his sad decline.
Alexandra described the movie as a beautiful gift that spotlighted their parent’s life. “To see a life well lived on screen and in its full complexity,” the 40-year-old said. “We wanted people to see the highs and lows, the public facade, and what’s happening at home.”
Christopher Reeve’s kids never watched his ‘Flash’ cameo
Last year, Warner Bros studio controversially used Reeve’s CGI likeness in the comic film The Flash. Reeve’s digital recreation simply made a cameo where Ezra Miller’s Flash spotted him in the multiverse. Reeve’s children have yet to watch the film and have made no promises to do so.

While they confirmed to have no involvement in the comic tentpole, Matthew noted that Super/Man: The Christopher Reeve Story helped “enhance” his perception of his late father. “We not only have his films to look at but a collection of home movies to dig up and go through and interviews on YouTube of him to pull up,” he said. “Like some rare Australian interview done in 1977 that was uploaded and I didn’t know existed. It was pretty cool to see that and uncover a lot more material than we knew about.”
Reeve was proud of his role in ‘The Remains of the Day’
Will noted that Superman overshadowed some of his father’s iconic roles. Hence, people naturally underestimated Reeve’s other movies, including his favorite, The Remains of the Day. “Not that he wasn’t proud of Superman, but if he were here, he wouldn’t choose Superman,” Will said. “He’d choose ‘Remains of the Day.’ I don’t think about the Superman films as much as I do about the swings he got took beyond this larger-than-life role.”
Reeve particularly loved The Remains of the Day because “he got to show a completely different side of himself.”
“He was so proud of his role in that movie. It’s not a big role. It’s an important role in the film…I knew how proud he was of that,” Will added.
