On January 20, it was announced that actor David Gail had died. Gail was known for a prominent role in Beverly Hills, 90210, as well as several soap operas, including General Hospital and Port Charles. Gail was 58 when he passed.
News of Gail’s death came from an announcement from his sister, Katie Colmenares, on Instagram. “There’s barely been even a day in my life when you were not with me by my side,” she said in her post, which she shared on Saturday morning. By time of writing, no official cause of death has been identified.
Katie’s tribute post features a photo of brother and sister in a loving embrace. She celebrates Gail as “always my wingman always my best friend ready to face anything and anyone w me.” She goes on to vow, “I will hold you so tight every day in my heart you gorgeous loving amazing fierce human being.”
She concludes, “missing you every second of every day forever there will never be another.”
Fans of Gail echoed these sentiments in the comments, writing, “David was a kind human. Someone I wish I spoke to more. He was filled of life and incredible stories. I am grateful I got to know. I am so saddened for your loss, and the world’s loss. He was a gift to us all.”
Another, a past colleague, Kristin Dattilo, shared, “I worked with your brother on a movie Some Girl. He and I played love interests and he was such a sweet soul. My heart is heavy.”
Tampa, Florida native David Gail was born in 1965 and left positive memories everywhere he went. His early credits include Growing Pains, Murder, She Wrote, and Doogie Howser, M.D. He also appeared alongside Bradley Cooper in Bending All the Rules. His final credit was voice work for the adventure game Blacksad: Under the Skin.
In Beverly Hills, 90210, he played Stuart Carson, the fiancé of Shannon Doherty’s character Brenda Walsh, across eight episodes. Pete Ferriero, host and producer of the Beverly Hills 90210 Show podcast, shared stories Gail recounted while on the podcast; Ferriero added, “He was filled of life and incredible stories. I am grateful I got to know. I am so saddened for your loss, and the world’s loss. He was a gift to us all.”
Gail also appeared in over 200 episodes of Port Charles, replacing Michael Dietz as Dr. Joe Scanlon.
