The surviving cast members of the classic series Cheers gathered at the Peacock Theater in downtown Los Angeles for the 75th Emmy Awards show. Ted Danson, Kelsey Grammer, Rhea Perlman, John Ratzenberger, and George Wendt presented some trophies from the recreated bar set on stage.

The five co-stars presented the award of Best Directing for a Comedy Series and Best Writing in a Comedy Series to Hulu’s The Bear after thanking the host, Anthony Anderson, for the special reunion. “This feels really nice to be here,” Ted noted.

While at the nostalgia-inducing bar, right after John made a joke about the moment being “a long overdue class reunion,” they discussed memories and life after Cheers until Rhea exclaimed in Carla style. “If somebody has the envelope, we can present the award!” she said. “Being together brings back some great memories of a show we’re all very proud of,” Kelsey added.

Last year, actors Ted Danson, George Wendt, and John Ratzenberger were joined by co-creators James Burrows, Les Charles, and Glen Charles at the ATX TV Festival in Austin, Texas, for a reunion panel. They discussed creating the show in their younger years and paid tribute to their late co-star, Kirstie Alley, who died from colon cancer.

More classics were acknowledged

Other classic sitcoms, including Norman Lear’s All In The Family and HBO’s The Sopranos, had their moment on Monday. Rob Reiner and Sally Struthers who played TV couple Gloria and Michael appeared on an All In The Family-themed set to pay tribute to Norman Lear, who died last year.

The Sopranos stars Lorraine Bracco and Michael Imperioli also shared the stage as they celebrated the show’s anniversary, which lasted from 1999 to 2007. “2024 marks the 25th anniversary of this show that Lorraine and I were so fortunate to be a part of,” Lorraine said. Tina Fey and Amy Poehler also revived SNL’s Weekend Update as they presented the award for Outstanding Live Variety Special.
