Ava Phillippe and Reese Witherspoon rocked the red carpet in coordinating outfits
Reese Witherspoon and her daughter Ava Phillippe have long been considered a whole other level of look-alikes. At the 2024 Critics Choice Awards, they lived up to this adorable title once again, with the mother-daughter duo twinning in coordinating black evening dresses that contrasted effectively with their blonde hair.
The 29th Critics Choice Awards kicked off on Sunday, February 14 at Santa Monica’s Barker Hangar. The event celebrated accomplishments in filmmaking and television programming from 2023. Hosted by Chelsea Handler, the ceremony saw Barbie secure five of its six nominations, and based on Witherspoon’s social media post, The Morning Show star enjoyed every moment of it.
-year-old Witherspoon was up for a nomination for Best Actress in a Drama Series thanks to her performance in The Morning Show, an Apple TV+ series that explores the characters and culture behind morning news programs.
Ahead of the big event, Witherspoon took to Instagram to share a photo of her and Ava dressed up for the Critics Choice Awards. “Mother daughter date night,” she captioned the post. The accompanying pictures show them all glammed up and looking nearly indistinguishable; Witherspoon sported a custom dress by Celine with a dramatic bow on the skirt.
Beside her, 24-year-old Ava had a black and white polka dot dress by Monique Lhuillier that fell just above the knee. On her legs, she wore Wolford tights.
Ultimately, the Critics Choice Award did not go to Witherspoon, but rather to Sarah Snook for her performance in Succession. But Witherspoon was, as always, glad for the date night with her look-alike daughter.
“How did I get so lucky to have a daughter like you?” Witherspoon once wondered on Instagram. The comment was made in response to a tribute post composed by Ava, who had a sweet message for her mother on her birthday last March.
“I’m lucky enough to call my mama,” Ava praised. “ She is truly a force of nature. While I am endlessly inspired by her and so proud of all she’s accomplished, what I admire most is the way she moves through the world as a curious, considerate, gracious, and loving person. With each year, I find even more reasons to love her, and I am thrilled to celebrate another year of her bright light in my life!”
