Father-son duo Dennis Quaid and Jack Quaid made an appearance at a Golden Globes after-party on Sunday, January 7. Dennis wore a black shirt and jacket, while his son rocked a bright pink suit at the gathering hosted by talent agency UTA in Beverly Hills, California.
An undeniable thing to note was the uncanny resemblance Jack shares with his actor dad, who has been nominated for two Golden Globe awards over the course of his career. Dennis had Jack 31 years ago with his ex-wife and co-star, Meg Ryan, whom he met while filming the ’80s sci-fi movie Innerspace.

Jack’s mom noticed his acting talent in a middle school production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream. “He was playing Bottom. I was newly divorced from his dad, and he was seated at the other side of the gym. I had my head in my hands and was like, ‘Oh, no,'” she recalled in a recent interview with Glamour. “He’s good. He’s really good.’ I leaned forward, and I see Dennis, and he’s also leaning forward with his head in his hands. I just knew.”

Just like Meg predicted, Jack has grown up to make his name in Hollywood after appearing in his debut movie, The Hunger Games, in 2012. He was also in 2022’s Scream and Oppenheimer, which dominated the 81st Golden Globe Awards count with five wins. The April-born actor is also known for his role as Hughie in the satirical superhero series The Boys.
Jack considered changing his surname
As the son of two celebrities, it is expected that people would consider Jack privileged and attribute his success to a star-studded background. However, Jack hated being associated with his parents’ fame during auditions and considered changing his last name. Interestingly, he never knew about his status until Meg and Dennis’ divorce in 2001. “It didn’t really hit me, to be honest. I was like, ‘Oh, OK, so everyone knows.” he said. “It was just kind of normal to me. They were just my parents.”
Meg also discussed Jack’s struggles while charting his course in the entertainment industry, independent of herself and Dennis. “You don’t wish it on anyone. It’s too hard, and it’s too weird. Jack is really talented. He’s more of a natural than I’ll ever be,” she explained. “That nepo stuff is so dismissive of his work ethic, his gifts, and how sensitive he is to the idea of his privilege.”
