Wynonna Judd showed off her weight loss during a two-hour Christmas special event at the Grand Ole Opry. Joining her at the ceremony was her co-host, Kelly Clarkson, alongside Brenda Lee, Chrissy Metz, and Trace Adkins, who also wowed the audience with their performances.

Judd opened up about her slimming journey a decade ago and has since lost over 55 pounds thanks to diet changes and fitness. She admitted that her eating was emotionally-motivated. “I used food to soothe and reward, and I don’t do that anymore,” she said.

Judd’s decision to lose weight and live a healthier life came after a health scare and an accident in the summer of 2010. She had blood clots through her heart and in her lungs and got involved in a car crash in Salt Lake City shortly after. “I was in the studio two months later singing with blood clots in my lungs,” she recalled.

Both tragic events made her more determined than ever to commit to a healthier lifestyle. “Very seldom will you see donuts in my house because I can eat a box. It’s like a chip, I can’t eat just one,” she added. “I can walk up the hill behind my house without puking.”

Judd gets tired on stage

Judd faced another health emergency earlier this year at the WSU Nutter Center in Dayton, Ohio. “I am really dizzy. I’m really dehydrated, and I’m having a hard time, so wait a second,” she said while signaling a crew member to help. She insisted on continuing the show as the audience joined her to sing “Grandpa.”

“I just have to take it easy right now, and that’s OK. I’m a perfectionist, and I can’t do it unless it’s right,” she said at the time. More recently, she needed help standing during her performance at the 2023 CMA awards in November. The 59-year-old held on to Jelly Roll’s arm as they sang “Need A Favor” together. She later clarified on TikTok that she “was so nervous” to sing with him that she “just held on for dear life.”
