Jeff Bridges Promotes ‘The Big Lebowski’ Auction Which Helps Prevent Children From Going Hungry

For the 25th anniversary of the timeless Coen brothers masterpiece, The Big Lebowski, fans will have the unique opportunity to delve into the film’s creative process. Julien’s Auctions, in collaboration with Turner Classic Movies (TCM), proudly presents The Big Lebowski: The Complete Storyboards Auction — an exclusive event that promises a meticulous curation of pieces, offering an intimate look into the intricate planning and visual narrative development behind this cinematic gem.

Jeff Bridges, who starred as the laid-back yet iconic Jeff “The Dude” Lebowski, is in on the plan as he gave a nod for the auction and invites fans and collectors to partake in the event which will showcase the very essence of the 1998 masterpiece.

‘The Big Lebowski: The Complete Storyboards Auction’ will have over 250 items on display

The auction is scheduled to be held on the third day of the event, which will run from December 14 to 17 and features a collection of 250 pieces of movie memorabilia and costumes. Among the notable items set to be auctioned are the storyboard collection Bridge’s character assembles, as well as a light brown knitted fleece bathrobe and an off-white cotton Jockey T-shirt, along with his sunglasses. The bathrobe starts with a bid of $7,000 and is anticipated to be auctioned between $30,000 and $50,000, while the sunglasses have a starting bid of $5,000 and an estimated auction range of $20,000 to $30,000.

Julien’s Auctions disclosed that the funds generated from the sales would be directed toward supporting a charitable initiative. “A portion of the proceeds from each lot will go to Share Our Strength’s No Kid Hungry campaign,” the company’s website reads. “No Kid Hungry is a national campaign that is working to end childhood hunger in the United States, run by the national nonprofit organization Share Our Strength.”

Bridges, who had previously been diagnosed with non-Hodgkins Lymphoma in 2020 but has since gone into remission, extended his support for the upcoming auction. He commended the 1998 classic, considering it among his all-time best movies. “And not just because I’m in it. Of course, I’m biased, but come on! … The Coen brothers,” he admitted. “They know how to make ’em, man, and they make it look so easy.”

In a reel posted by the auction company on its YouTube channel, the 73-year-old called on all fans of the movie to participate in the sales, which is aimed at celebrating the film’s continuing legacy. “It’s wonderful to be here and to celebrate the Turner Classic Movies,” Bridges confessed. “I’m so happy that they’re all about preserving these amazing films, The Big Lebowski being one of them, and the fact that Julien’s Auctions has made it possible for all you guys out there, who love your favorite movies, to get a little piece of that. So, you guys, big away and have a groovy time doing it.”
