Rumer Willis recently shared a touching throwback photo of Bruce Willis, who held her as a baby in a pretty dress and headband. “Really missing my papa today,” she captioned the post. Her followers, including fans who could relate to her plight, responded in the comments with kind words and encouragement.

“I cannot even imagine. My heart & prayers go out to you. I’m also sending you a sincere, tight hug. Blessings to you,” someone said. “The love between father and daughter transcends physical distance, for the bond we share is stronger than any space we are separated from,” another wrote to lift her spirits.

More notes from Bruce’s daughters

Rumer’s younger sister, Tallulah, shared old photos with her dad, including one where Bruce wore jean trousers and a black zip-up jumper while she sported jean overalls and a collared shirt. “Damn, these photos are hitting tonight,” she wrote. “You’re my whole damn heart and I’m so proud to be your Tallulah Belle Bruce Willis.”

More on Bruce’s situation

Amid updates and news about his health, Bruce has made some rare public appearances since his retirement. He was spotted wearing a black hoodie in the passenger’s seat of a vehicle in Los Angeles shortly after his wife said it was “hard to know” if he was aware of his condition on the Today show.

Bruce’s wife of fourteen years, Emma Hemming, has been vocal about his health and her life as his primary caregiver. She told Today co-anchor Hoda Kotb that “dementia is hard” on the diagnosed and their families. “And that is no different for Bruce, or myself, or our girls. When they say this is a family disease, it really is,” she said.
