Peter Frampton achieved widespread fame after the release of his groundbreaking live album, Frampton Comes Alive!, in 1976. This iconic album is one of the best-selling live records in rock history. However, despite his remarkable success, Frampton’s career took a hit after he was diagnosed with degenerative Inclusion Body Myositis (IBM), which led him to announce his retirement from touring on February 22, 2019.
It seems the singer is reconsidering his stance as he has embarked on a new tour, Never Say Never, this year. To mark the development, Frampton recently revealed how happy he is to be able to come out of retirement and continue touring at 73.
Peter Frampton says he is not ready to quit touring yet
During an interview with 93.3 WMMR, Frampton disclosed that the major reason why he decided to quit touring was because he felt he could not deliver at the same level he used to due to his health condition. “I made a deal with myself that if I can’t play at the top of my game,” he admitted to the news outlet. “I don’t want to play and disappoint people.”

The singer added that he has decided to continue with his craft after discovering that he is still effective. “Well, I have to play! So things have changed; my hands are affected by my muscle disease,” Frampton stated. “But I’ve adapted, and I’m still playing pretty good! So I’m loving it.”
The singer is determined to earn his place in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame
During the discussion, the 73-year-old stated that even though he has a Grammy Award to his name, he hopes to get inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, joining legends like Sheryl Crow and Stevie Nicks.
“I didn’t get a Grammy until [2007, Best Pop Instrumental Album for Fingerprints], and it was (not for) singing, it was for an instrumental record. I was so thrilled it was about my music, and not about my looks or my voice or anything,” Frampton explained. “So, to actually be asked here, just to be in the room with Sheryl, is an honour. Everything is gravy for me now. I don’t expect anything, and I’m very thrilled when I do get something, an award, I’m always very, very appreciative.”
Frampton also added that he appreciates that his career has been on an upward trajectory. “Things have turned out really well for me, which I never thought would happen,” he continued. “I worked my ass off, that’s why I think I managed to turn things around.”
