Kevin Bacon Celebrates Writer’s Strike Ending With Recreating ‘Footloose’ Dance

The SAG-AFTRA strike finally ended on Wednesday, November 9, after a four-month-long period. To celebrate, Kevin Bacon took to social media to share a video of himself dancing with a simple caption that read, “Strike over!”

Kevin first performed the dance nearly four decades ago on 1984’s Footloose and only proved again that he’s still got it. The 60-year-old actor busts out his moves in a barn as the sun makes him look more like a silhouette.

Kevin bribes DJs at weddings

It seems the Footloose dance has always been a thing for the actor as he confessed to Conan O’Brien that he bribes DJs not to play Footloose when he is at a wedding because it takes attention away from the couple. “I hand him $20 and say, ‘Please don’t play that song,’” he said. “A wedding is really not about me. It’s about the bride and groom, and it’s embarrassing. It’s awful.”

He also recreated the iconic number on a 2014 episode of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, but this time, he is marking the end of the longest work stoppage in SAG-AFTRA’s history. Fans praised the movie star as they flocked to the comments on X, formerly Twitter. “This made me nostalgic AF,” a fan wrote.

Actors demand better benefits

Actors boycotted work to demand better pay, health care, and protection against the use of artificial intelligence to recreate their likeness and that of dead actors. “Living actors deserve a chance to create characters with their choices, to voice cartoons, to put their HUMAN effort and time into the pursuit of performance,” Robin Williams’ daughter, Zelda, wrote on her Instagram.

Although the strike is over, it does not equal the immediate return of delayed movies. Former Parks and Recreation co-star Jim O’Heir said productions may not come back until early next year. “I think some shows that shut down in the middle might be able to come back quicker, but now they’ve got to build sets, rent out soundstages, etc,” he told The Post.
