For this year’s Halloween, Christina Aguilera channeled her inner Cher to honor the legendary singer. The 42-year-old went down memory lane to take her inspiration from Burlesque, a 2010 movie they both starred in, where Christina played Ali, an aspiring singer seeking fame, and Cher acted as Tess, a Burlesque lounge owner.
The tribute, which spanned four Instagram posts, started with a video of Christina rocking Cher’s long, rich-dark curls and black leather leotards and captioned “Tess & Ali 4EVER.” She lip-syncs the scene where she asks Tess, “Which one do you want to see?” to which Tess replies, “Wagon Wheel Watusi.”
In the next post, she explained why she chose Cher as her source of inspiration for Halloween— “her favorite day of the year” — she felt it was the “right time” to show her appreciation for the icon whom she called “OG trailblazer.”
“Cher’s message through her music and style has left a permanent mark on the world, and to this day, I still can’t believe I had the opportunity to work with such a legend!!!!” Christina wrote alongside several snapshots of the clip. “No one could ever fill the shoes of the great & powerful Cher. The love and respect I have for you is endless 🖤⚓️.”
Still in the mood of “honoring the LEGENDARY QUEEN,” Christina didn’t end there, she posted a video of the behind-the-scenes of her shoot with the soundtrack of Cher’s “If I Could Turn Back Time” and said she resembled Cher so much that “her girls” could not identify her. “They literally said, ‘Can I help you’?” she revealed in the clip.
