Barry Williams Gets Highest Score Yet On ‘Dancing With the Stars’

Barry Williams showed the judges and viewers of Dancing With The Stars that he is prepared to win the show through his consistent victories on the two previous episodes — his highest score with three main judges and highest score with four judges. Although his previous plan was to surpass onscreen sister Maureen McCormick, who was eliminated in episode 7 of Season 23, the Brady Bunch star has tweaked his goals.

“I like the challenge. It’s always a challenge. It’s been a challenge since week one… we had this incredible high tonight,” Barry says, remaining committed. “We’re moving on to another week. Rehearsal starts in 12 hours.” He and his partner, Peta Murgatroyd, performed a Viennese waltz to James Brown’s “It’s A Man’s, Man’s, Man’s World” and landed a 31/40 score from the judges.

Barry Williams admits he felt pressured

The 69-year-old felt the pressure when he got a low score of 15/30 during the second episode of the show and was elated to know he did better during the Halloween episode. “I didn’t make any mistakes and got our best scores yet,” he revealed in the rehearsal video package. “I needed a breakthrough, and that was it. We definitely can’t make more mistakes now. We’re at midseason, and I feel like I’m just hitting my stride.”

Barry claims he’s enjoying every bit of Dancing With The Stars and has a point to prove to the judges, “I’m having the time of my life,” he continued. “I’m trying hard to nail the choreography. It’s crucial that I deliver a good performance so the judges know I’m a real contender.”

Despite his high score, Barry’s fans booed Derek Hough for scoring him seven, while the other judges gave him eight. Derek’s fault in the star’s performance was that he dwelled more on his character, the Big Bad Wolf, than the dance. Nevertheless, Barry was happy with his fans for their connection with him.

“I feel very connected to multiple generations. I feel like I grew up with so many people that tell me that they’ve grown up with me. I kind of feel like we’re all in this together,” he claimed. “And I think some of them are out there saying, ‘I’m going for the old man.’”
