Matthew Perry, best known for his role as Chandler Bing on the NBC television sitcom Friends, passed away on October 28, 2023. The actor, who was a top-ranked junior Canadian tennis player during his teenage years, played Pickleball — a game that is similar to tennis — the morning he died.
Following his demise, Extra host Billy Bush shared on his Instagram page that Perry’s Pickleball partner claimed the actor showed warning signs — she noticed something was off about him that Saturday morning throughout the period they played.

“I spoke to the woman he played with this morning and every morning. She is in shock, adored Matt … she said he had been fatigued today and over the past week,” Bush shared the conversation he had with Perry’s Pickleball partner. “A little more than usual. He played for one hour, then went home.”

A few hours after the friendly Pickleball game, emergency responders arrived at Perry’s Los Angeles home following a call about someone experiencing cardiac arrest in the house. Sadly, they found the actor lying dead in his hot tub after what appeared to be a case of accidental drowning.
How did Perry die?
As the world mourns the late star, his fans and loved ones are still worried about the circumstances surrounding his death. Although the Los Angeles Police Department reported that, at the time Perry was pronounced dead, there was no suspected foul play surrounding his death.
However, the late actor’s cause of death was listed as “deferred” — which means a cause of death that has not yet been determined even though an autopsy was completed — by the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s office pending further investigation.
