65-Year-Old Sharon Stone Opens Up About Her Life-Threatening ‘Botox Mishap’

It is not uncommon to find women in the entertainment industry investing a great deal in their looks and opting for cosmetic procedures to maintain youthfulness. Sharon Stone admitted to using Botox regularly to fix up her face — a procedure that almost took her life.

She was also vocal on social media about aging, her health problems, and challenges particular to women, which they “bear alone and secretly with some kind of sense of failure.” Her life-threatening experience changed her perspective on beauty and has helped her lead a happier life.

Sharon suffered a brain hemorrhage

Undergoing Botox led to a health setback that caused her to get even more shots and filler for her face to appear symmetrical again. “There were periods in the super fame when I got Botox and filler and stuff, and then I had this massive stroke and a nine-day brain hemorrhage, and then I had to have over 300 shots of Botox and filler to make the one side of my face come up again,” she told Vogue.

She also suffered a stroke in 2001 after rupturing a vertebral artery that caused her brain to bleed. This not only affected her physical well-being, but her finances took a big hit, too. “I had to remortgage my house. I lost everything I had. I lost my place in the business. I was like the hottest movie star, you know?” the actress recalled.

Leading a better life

Sharon overcame her health and financial issues and started to prioritize inward beauty as she aged. “If you don’t see me for more than that, you’ll please find your way to the exit. I feel really, really happy. I’ve never been this joyful,” Sharon warned.

Earlier this year, she reflected on her battle with a breast cancer scare at the Courage Awards during the Women’s Cancer Research Fund event. “I went into the hospital saying, ‘If you open me up and it’s cancer, please take my breasts because I am not a person defined by my breasts,’” she recalled.

“Thankfully, doctors confirmed the tumor to be non-cancerous, but she later opted to have some breast tissue taken out. “I’m standing here telling you I had one-and-a-half and more tissue of my breasts removed, and none of you knew it,” she told the audience. “And that might seem funny coming from me since you’ve all seen them. But let me tell you something else — you’ve seen them since the surgery, and you don’t know it.”
