On October 21, Heart’s lead vocalist Ann Wilson headlined the Women Who Rock Benefit Concert. During a recent interview with People ahead of the event, the singer shared some nostalgic memories about the prevalent fashion style from the early days of their rock band.
During the discussion, Ann became the center of attention after a topic popped up about the sheer quantity of hair spray cans that probably occupied the band’s dressing room back in those days, due to the singer and sister, Nancy Wilson’s extravagant hairstyle at that time.
Responding to the question, Ann humorously reflected that they were not solely reliant on hairspray as they had an adventurous and extravagant approach to their appearance and style.
“Totally. Hairspray and shaving cream!” Ann admitted to the news outlet. “Everything went into the hair. So funny.”
Ann also shared details about her latest solo album, titled Another Door. She expressed her delight at the warm reception the album has received from her devoted fan base. “There’s a song on our new record called ‘This Is Now,’ and every night when we play that, we get this really amazing audience reaction, because it’s just a simple message, ‘That was then, this is now,'” she explained. “The song ends and you kind of hear this sigh go up. They love it and it’s a song they’ve never heard before.”
The 73-year-old also reflected her passion for evolving as an artist and stated her eagerness to connect with a newer, younger audience through her music. “So yeah,” Ann confessed, “we are enlarging our audience big time right now.”
