Jamie Lee Curtis, renowned for her unforgettable performances in timeless cinematic classics like Halloween, Trading Places, and True Lies, recently honored the memory of her legendary parents, Janet Leigh and Tony Curtis, who were luminaries in their own right within Hollywood.

Janet Leigh’s role as Marion Crane in Alfred Hitchcock’s Psycho remains one of the most iconic characters in film history. Sadly, she passed away in 2004 at 77 after bravely battling vasculitis, a debilitating autoimmune condition, while her father died at 85 in 2010 following a cardiac arrest.

Curtis also mentioned that if her parents were still alive, they would be at the forefront of supporting the ongoing actors’ strike and the vital causes championed by the SAG-AFTRA union. “Janet Leigh left us this day in 2004 and Tony Curtis last week in 2010,” she wrote in the caption. “Missing them both now for a long time and know from their activism that they would stand with @sagaftra and this righteous fight to protect their and our identities!”

Jamie Lee Curtis has always celebrated her parents’ legacies

In the past, Curtis honored her late mother’s enduring legacy by commemorating the timeless Alfred Hitchcock classic Psycho, which earned a well-deserved spot on Variety’s esteemed list of the 100 Greatest Movies of All Time. She explained via an Instagram post that such events make her miss her mom.

“I woke up this morning missing my mother and wishing she could see the beautiful family that I have and that her two daughters are well and thriving and for her to enjoy this magical, creative year I’m having after such a long time in the same industry she loved,” she wrote. “The miracle of the movies is that they last forever, in perpetuity. How thrilling to see her legacy today through the loving portal of @variety as the number #1 movie of all time.”

Also, in January 2022, the 64-year-old  took to Instagram to reflect on her parents’ lives. “As the product of 13 divorces in my immediate family, I have often struggled with the idea of love, what happens to it?” Curtis detailed. “There are only a couple reminders to me that I was born from love and not resentment, competition, jealousy, and rancor which are the cornerstones of any unpleasant divorce, I also forget that they were famous and loved worldwide. Happy hump day Janet and Tony. Thanks for love and life!”
