Cher’s son, Elijah Blue Allman, has battled several health challenges, including heroin addiction and a debilitating encounter with Lyme disease. His addiction woes took a toll on his relationship with his mom, who took an unconventional method to save her son’s life.
Cher allegedly orchestrated his abduction during his ninth wedding anniversary in 2022. In an old interview making rounds recently, Allman, who is currently in rehabilitation, shed light on the relationship with his mother, and half-brother, Chaz Bono.
Elijah Blue Allman talks about his family
Allman shared that his relationship with his mother and stepbrother isn’t a smooth one. “We don’t really talk at the moment, which happens over the years. For me, the most important thing is that people should be happy in their own right, whatever that means,” he stated. “If not talking is going to make someone happier, then I’m fine with that. You don’t need my vanity or ego served. If it helps, fine, let’s not talk.”

He also shared that, despite his mother’s deep love for him, she struggled to provide the emotional support he needed during his battle with Lyme disease. “That’s not one of her strong suits. We’ve had a dynamic like that going back a long time, so it would just figure that something like this would be the same way,” Allman admitted. “However, that is not to say that she wasn’t supportive, which she was. But in that bitter cold of where you really don’t know if you are going to wake up and be alive tomorrow, you need extra from everybody. You need copious amounts. You absolutely need unconditional parental love in those dark hours.”
He says he benefitted immensely from his mom’s long list of famous boyfriends
During the course of the interview, the 47-year-old made reference to his mother’s extensive history of high-profile romantic relationships with celebrities such as Tom Cruise, movie producer Josh Donen, and Bon Jovi’s Richie Sambora while highlighting the influence they’ve had on his life.
“I was lucky to have a lot of those men who were my mom’s boyfriends – from (Val) Kilmer to Tom Cruise. I was lucky to have them in my life because my dad wasn’t around, so I really kind of looked to them,” he confessed. “Richie and I would sit up all night playing guitar. He would play me some really pivotal things that shaped who I became as a musician,” said Elijah, who went on to front the rock band, Deadsy.
