McDonald’s Just Sold Their Burgers For Price Not Seen In Decades

In celebration of National Cheeseburger Day on September 18, top fast food chain McDonald’s sold their burgers for less than one dollar. “For one day only, fans can snag a Double Cheeseburger for only $0.50 from any participating location nationwide when they order exclusively through the McDonald’s App,” the announcement read.

The last time a McDonald’s Double Cheeseburger cost 50 cents was back in the ’80s, so this gives a sense of nostalgia to people who were around back then. Earlier this year, the outlet changed how its burgers were prepared, offering softer buns, meltier cheese, and butter sauce for the Big Macs. They also provided free fries to mark National Fry Day in July.

The 50-cent burger is only available on the McDonald’s app

The offer was open to customers nationwide, but exclusive to those ordering from the McDonald’s app. The app is free to download and easy to use as well. Yes, for one day, cheeseburger lovers could get the Double Cheeseburger with two beef patties topped with pickles, onions, ketchup, mustard and cheese slices for half a dollar.

It is worth noting that fees still apply if you choose delivery, but in-person pickup comes at no extra charge. Items like fries, Coke, shakes, and other items aside from burgers were not covered by the offer and maintained their full menu price.

Other restaurants are joining the fun

Besides the “Golden Arches” restaurant, Wendy’s is also celebrating Cheeseburger Day by offering a Jr. Bacon Cheeseburger from September 18 to 22 at only one cent. However, the one-cent burger — consisting of a beef patty, smoked bacon, melted American cheese, lettuce, tomato, and a spread of mayonnaise — can only be bought alongside other menu items.

Additionally, Burger King is offering customers who are a member of their Royal Perks rewards program a free cheeseburger if they have bought items over one dollar this year. Other fast food outlets like Carl’s Jr. and Applebee’s Grill & Bar also have juicy cheesy deals for their customers.
