Even while flirting with the idea of retirement, Kelly Ripa has remained front and center in the spotlight, keeping fans updated on Live! With Kelly and Mark as well as social media. On Instagram, Ripa shared a photo with Lola and one of the family dogs in a picture that has some fans worried.
Ripa and her husband Mark Consuelos, both 52, are the proud parents of three children: Michael, Lola, and Joaquin. They also have two adorable canine fur babies, although with Ripa’s latest snap with Lola, fans are now worried that is no longer the case.

As August wound to a close, Ripa and Lola posed for a summery selfie accompanied by one of their dogs. “Enjoying #NationalDogDay with Lola and Lena in the dog days of summer.” Ripa is seen with her gold hair tied back, showing off a large pair of sunglasses. She wears minimal jewelry over a light, decorative top. Beside her, Lola wears her hair loose and appears to be dressed similarly for the summer heat.

In front of them is their fur baby Lena, all dark fluff and sweet eyes. However, this photo has some fans concerned. “Did Chewy pass?? So sorry if she did,” worried one user. Another desperately wanted to know, “Wait! Where’s Chewie?” Chewie is getting up there in years, which inspired one user to theorize, “Mb it was too hot for her to be outside bc she is older.”
And fur babies make seven
Eagle-eyed fans will see that Ripa actually addressed Chewie’s absence in the family photo. The caption jokingly lists Chewie as the photographer who snapped this shot of the trio, accounting for her absence. Certain of Chewie’s wellbeing, another user gushed, “Three gorgeous gals!”
Chewie, a rescue dog, has been with the joint Ripa-Consuelos family unit since 2007. Meanwhile, Lena, a Maltese-Shih Tzu mix, wasn’t adopted until as recently as 2021. However, Ripa adores dogs and was very mindful of this sudden change for Chewie.
“My whole fear was that I didn’t want Chewie to feel replaced in any way,” said Ripa in Live’s Happy Pets segment in March 2021. In fact, Chewie was a big deciding factor in how their family would grow. But finally, the girls made it clear they would be friends for life. “Chewie was outside the [Lena’s] crate, sitting next to her with their noses together.” They’ve been buddies ever since.
