John Stamos got his groove on for his big day, deciding to celebrate turning 60 with a birthday party themed entirely around the ’60s. Not only was the general dress code reminiscent of that era but so were the guests and the atmosphere of gratitude and growth.
In fact, the Full House alum spent the whole celebration surrounded by family, friends, and colleagues who all helped make this birthday miles different from his 50th. However, this will be the last big bash for at least 10 years now, as Stamos explained in a new post showing off pictures from the big day.

Stamos officially turned 60 on August 19 but it wasn’t until last Friday he shared photos from his ’60s party, which was quite the full house. “We officially celebrated my 60th this past weekend,” he shared in a recent Instagram post. “It was a night to remember surrounded by the people I love the most. I’m truly blessed. More party content to come.”

He thanked SusieCakes Bakery for the “groovy cake and endless supply of cupcakes,” one of which he ate while making the photo post. The accompanying photos showed some of those flower power-themed desserts along with his wife Caitlin McHugh Stamos and their five-year-old son William, all dressed in some hip, brightly-colored themed attire.
Taking things one decade at a time
Stamos was surrounded by friends and loved ones at the event, including Glee costar Chord Overstreet and his fellow Scream Queens colleagues Jamie Lee Curtis and Glen Powell. In keeping with the theme, Stamos boogied to some Beach Boys music and enjoyed the works of a Beach Boys cover band.
“It was a 60’s party that was better than the actual [’60s],” Stamos would call the festivities. But there probably won’t be a repeat for some time.
“This is my final birthday celebration,” Stamos revealed in a speech, a source told PEOPLE. But “It’s not about age,” Stamos added, “but because my life is so fulfilling that each day feels like a birthday. It’s heartwarming that people want to celebrate me, but let’s wait till my 70th if it’s really necessary.”
A very groovy 60th birthday to John Stamos, a ’60s guy through and through!
