Ricki Lake surprised her Instagram followers and fans with a new look, a buzz cut, in 2020 following her struggle with constant hair loss for almost thirty years. Recently, she shared the good news about her hair restoration journey with her fans without hiding details about using three distinct hair products.

The actress shared that she first became aware of her hair loss in her late twenties after losing substantial weight for her role in Mrs. Winterbourne. “I was put on a crash diet for the whole shoot…Three months after I changed my diet dramatically, my hair was shedding,” Lake stated. “It was just coming out in clumps in the shower.”

In an interview with Prevention, Lake described the experience as highly traumatic with a lasting impact on her life. The worry over her thinning hair became a recurring issue whenever she faced a mirror.
