Nonagenarian Dick Van Dyke proves it is never too late to try something new. The actor recently shared a post on social media showing off his new hobby, playing the ukulele. In the Instagram video, he sat with a friend who also held his own instrument and strummed along.

“I can’t play G7,” the friend exclaimed in the video, to which Dyke responded that he “can’t play either!” From the caption, it was Dyke’s first ukulele lesson and his wife, Arlene Silver’s third. “It’s never too late to start something new,” he added.

What is Dick Van Dyke up to?

Dick Van Dyke, who is turning 98 in December, has remained active and remarkably healthy for his age. The father of four has had a successful career in Hollywood as an actor, comedian, and performer, bagging various awards and recognitions. He has a new project titled Capture the Flag, currently in pre-production.

As a nonagenarian, Dyke still takes his workout and diet seriously, as he shared with Daily Mail in 2016. “I go to the gym every day. I also go to dance rehearsals. Age is more than a number, it’s a mindset,” he told the outlet. In his 2016 memoir, fittingly titled Keep Moving: And Other Tips and Truths About Living Well Longer, Dyke wrote that he does not consider how he is “supposed to act” at his age “or at any age.”

“If I want to sing, I sing. I read books and get excited about new ideas. I enjoy myself,” the actor detailed in his memoir.
