Bruce Springsteen Postpones Philadelphia Shows Because Of Illness

Recently, Bruce Springsteen — the Boss himself — who had been on the road touring for months, was forced to cancel a pair of concerts in Philadelphia just a couple of hours ahead of their scheduled performance times due to an undisclosed illness. The announcement was made to fans via his X account.

“Due to Bruce Springsteen having been taken ill,” the statement reads. “His concerts with The E Street Band at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia on August 16 and 18 have been postponed.” The concert was billed to be Springsteen’s first stadium performance in South Philadelphia since 2016 and would have also marked his comeback to the city.

Bruce Springsteen is silent about the new dates for the tour

Although no new dates have been announced, the statement emphasized that fans should not give up hope in seeing Springsteen and the band perform there — a fact that wasn’t necessarily helpful to everyone who had intended on seeing the shows.

“We are working on rescheduling the dates,” the post continued, “so please hold on to your tickets as they will be valid for the rescheduled shows.”

Fans react to Bruce Springsteen’s cancelation

The statement, which was shared shortly after 2 p.m, just hours before the scheduled 7:30 start time of the show, came as a shock to many of Springsteen’s fans. Some were already getting ready for the concert, and a few had even traveled quite a distance to be there. “Flew all the way from Sweden to see this concert,” one of the fans posted alongside a selfie taken in an airport.

“Sorry to hear about Bruce being ill, that sux! But when and how are refund details going to be available? I am in town from London (UK) and have 6 tix to Friday’s Bruce show, how do I get my $2K+ back?” a fan questioned.
