Sandra Bullock has been in the spotlight since 1987 in a career that’s cast her as everything from an awkward editor to a serene mother. One of her latest gigs, 2022’s The Lost City, saw her play an unwitting adventurer and in the lead-up to its release, Bullock showed she had the abs to match some of the demanding thrills of the action movie.
The Lost City stars Bullock alongside Channing Tatum, Daniel Radcliffe, Brad Pitt, and Da’Vine Joy Randolph and tells the story of novelist Loretta Sage (Bullock) finding herself dragged into a perilous adventure for a titular lost settlement of treasure. The film saw Bullock scramble about in some dangerous locations and judging by a casual sighting just before the film’s release, she could have handled the adventure herself quite well.
To promote The Lost City, Bullock appeared on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert looking ready for adventure even off of the movie’s set. Bullock could be seen walking the streets of New York that day wearing a soft pink jacket over a dark pantsuit. The top was a crop top that showed off her torso and the toned abs Bullock sported at 57 that year.
Candid images like this are limited since Bullock does not maintain an online presence on any social media platform. She spoke of this choice on The Jess Cagle Show with co-host Julia Cunningham, who asked why she was not on social media.
“I learned a lot,” she joked of her time filming The Net, which revolves heavily around the dangers of computers. She added, “We met real hackers and I remember people going, ‘Does that exist? Do you think we could actually order a pizza from your computer?’ And I was like, ‘Yes.'”
Today, Bullock is 59, having celebrated her birthday on July 26, and she still has the same sharp figure from years prior. She maintains a very rigorous schedule for herself whether she’s filming or not.
“When I’m in Austin, I run or ride a bike,” Bullock shared. “If I can work out every day, I will.” She loves celebrity trainer Simone De La Rue’s Body By Simone dance-cardio training.
The feeling is mutual, as Simone praised Bullock, “She puts in an hour a day, six times a week. She is extremely motivated and driven.” In fact, between shooting scenes for 2013’s Gravity, Bullock would gravitate to her trailer “and do dance workouts for an hour or so, a few times a day,” according to stunt coordinator Franklin Henson.
