Recently, a 101-year-old woman openly shared her tips for achieving a long life and explained why she doesn’t believe in retirement. Jayne Burns, born in 1922, attributed her robust health to her continued practice of working full eight-hour days.

The centenarian is dedicated to her work at JoAnn Fabrics, even though she has far exceeded the typical retirement age. Her reason for not retiring is unconventional but not strange, as a job that involves moderate physical activities is vital to keeping one’s health in shape.

In an interview with Today, Burns revealed that her long life is not hereditary as both her mother and father died in their 40s and 60s, respectively. The aged woman who still drives to work daily emphasized her consistent dedication to regular exercise, stating that she engages in physical activity multiple times a week to keep her body active through bowling, golfing, and, most significantly, her part-time job.

“You’ve got to keep moving and not sit around the house all day,” she told the news outlet. “I just like working and I like working with people.” Burns also mentioned that she has never smoked, but she does partake in alcohol occasionally during social gatherings.

However, she revealed that the essential elements for happiness and longevity are maintaining a positive mindset and being surrounded by loved ones who radiate an atmosphere of joy which she has in her two daughters and her coworker. “I just like to be around other people,” Burns confessed to Today. “Most of them are very friendly.”
