Butch Patrick: After 17 Years Of Disappearing From Hollywood, He’s Still Going Strong At 70

Butch Patrick began his career in showbiz at the age of seven. He got his big break in 1964 when he was cast as the young werewolf Eddie Munster in the TV sitcom The Munsters, which ran for two seasons, and reprised his role in the 1966 feature film Munster, Go Home!. Patrick appeared in TV shows like the ABC Saturday morning series Lidsville, Ben Casey, Alcoa Premiere, Bonanza, My Favorite Martian, Gunsmoke, Mister Ed, and movies such as The Two Little Bears.

However, his acting career eventually slowed down, and he finally went off the radar for many years until his return as Eddie in the 1991 film Scary Movie. The actor has since then been consistent with appearances in movie roles.

Butch Patrick appeared in a new role in the 2022 movie adaptation of ‘Munsters’

Last year, the 70-year-old appeared as the Tin Can Man, a robot built by Eddie on the Munsters series in the big-screen version of the show. The movie director, Rob Zombie, didn’t hesitate to share his decision to cast Patrick with his fans.

“Where’s Eddie you ask?” he wrote in the caption. “Well, I’ll tell you! My good buddy Butch Patrick is now in THE MUNSTERS as THE TIN CAN MAN. I am thrilled to have another original Munster in my new film. Get ready for some robot fun!”

The actor found love and ties the knot in his sixties

In 2016, Patrick found love and tied the knot with Leila Murray when he was 63 years old in a heartwarming ceremony held at The Macon Roundhouse in Macon, Missouri, with around 90 close guests in attendance. Murray revealed in an interview with PEOPLE  that their love story unfolded as a stroke of luck, as fate first brought them together at an event organized by their mutual friend.

“We met a few years ago briefly at an event through our mutual friend, legendary [automobile designer] George Barris,” she admitted. “We reconnected this year while Butch was doing an event in Florida on his tour with his Munster Koach and Dragula Tribute Cars. It’s one of those chance bonds in life that rarely happens between two people and it was meant to be.”
