Recently, Suzanne Somers’s health status got fans concerned after she failed to show up on her popular Facebook Live show. The actress was diagnosed with stage II breast cancer in 2000, and after undergoing a tumor tissue removal surgery, she opted for alternative cancer treatments instead of chemotherapy — a decision that made her lock horns with the American Cancer Society.
Her husband, Alan Hamel, disclosed to Page Six that the actress is currently facing a breast cancer relapse after previously beating breast cancer in her 50s and skin cancer in her 30s. “Suzanne has lived with cancer all her life,” he told the news outlet. “In her 20s, she’d also dealt with two hyperplasia … which is the waiting room for cancer.”

Shortly after the revelation by her husband, the Threes Company star also confirmed her breast cancer relapse during an interview with Entertainment Tonight. “I have been living with cancer since my 20s. And every time that little f—ker pops up, I continue to bat it back,” she admitted. “I do my best not to let this insidious disease control me.”

Somers further stated that she is ready for an all-out battle with the deadly disease. “It’s a recurrence of my breast cancer. Like any cancer patient, when you get that dreaded, ‘It’s back,’ you get a pit in your stomach,” she added. “Then I put on my battle gear and go to war. This is familiar battleground for me, and I’m very tough.”
The singer is putting off work to focus on her health
Hamel revealed that Somers is out of danger, but precautions will still be taken to prevent future reoccurrence. “She has now dealt with her cancer once again. On June 6, she got an all-clear,” he noted to Page Six, “but cancer is tricky and we will now closely monitor everything going forward. All her doctors said if she didn’t lead a chemical-free, organic life supported by bioidentical hormones, she wouldn’t be with us.”
Hamel added that even though the scare is over, the actress will put work aside so as to focus on her health and recovery.
