Tony Bennett was a highly successful musician in his lifetime, amassing wealth of up to $200 million. Now that he is gone after a longtime battle with Alzheimer’s, fans may wonder how his fortune will be handed down and to whom.
The late icon is survived by his wife, Susan, and four children from his previous marriages. Tony was first married to Patricia Beech, whom he split from in 1971, after welcoming two children together. He then married Sandra Grant in the same year; however, the couple formally divorced in 2007 after a long separation.
Tony managed to get out of debt
Tony started from humble beginnings and managed to get rich; however, the “Rags To Riches” singer went through some dark periods financially and personally. In his 2011 biography, All The Things You Are: The Life of Tony Bennett, Tony wrote that he was “drug-addled”, consuming “uppies, downies, and sleepies.”

The late singer also “owed something like $1.2million (£980,000), which was a fortune in those days,” and after his mother died in 1977, Tony’s drug addiction heightened—he reportedly passed out once after overdosing on cocaine. The tragic incident caused him to overcome addiction, his eldest soon took over as manager, and the debt was quickly paid off. Tony once appreciated Danny back in 1999 for “truly looking out for his best interests and not just in it for the money.”
Who gets the fortune?
The father of four had a good relationship with his children, so his fortune would likely go on to them. Tony’s eldest son, Danny, who was also his manager, was deeply involved in his father’s career and finances. Danny paid tribute to his father via an article on People. “Tony, my father, imbued the essence of the American dream. He taught us all that remarkable opportunities will reveal themselves and that anything is possible when you stick by your passion, believe in yourself, and dedicate your life to quality,” he wrote.
Asides from Danny, Dae was also a part of their father’s career and produced some of his work; however, Joanna is the most private of the Bennett children and was not involved in Tony’s music career. Antonia is a singer like her dad, having performed alongside him on multiple occasions.
