Michael J. Fox and Tracy Pollan celebrated their 35th wedding anniversary
2023 marks a meaningful year for Tracy Pollan and Michael J. Fox. 35 years ago, on July 16, 1988, Fox and Pollan united in holy matrimony, and they are celebrating this 35th anniversary by looking forward to the many more they’ll be spending together in the years to come.
The love story between these two began, fittingly, when they met on the set of Family Ties, where Pollan played the girlfriend to Fox’s character. However, they didn’t start dating until ’87, in part because of pre-established relationships. But jump ahead over three decades, these two are sharing tribute posts full of words of devotion and hope for the future. Check out their beautiful messages below.
On the big day, Fox took to social media to celebrate his wife 35 years after he and Pollan married. “35 years of laugher, living, listening and loving you @tracy.pollan,” he gushed. “Thank you for it all. Forever yours, Mike.”
The post also includes a series of photos that serve as a visual timeline of their love; they are seen cuddling close throughout the years, from their early days as colleagues to the present day, as devoted as ever. Pollan was quick to reply, saying, “Love you so much!!!” in addition to sharing a post of her own.
Over on her own Instagram, Pollan shared a photo of herself with her arms wrapped lovingly around Fox as the two stand in front of a sparkling body of water at the base of rocky, grassy cliffs. “35 years!!!” she celebrated. “Happy anniversary my love. Here’s to many more glorious adventures together. I could not love you more.”
They’ve come a long way in terms of time and attitude. For how auspicious their first meeting was, Pollan wasn’t quite convinced he was the one. “I think I thought he was kind of full of himself,” said Pollan in a 2005 interview for an episode of Inside the Actors Studio. “We started to work together and I got a completely different impression and how completely opposite from that he was—just funny and so smart, and just all of these other things came through those first two weeks we worked together.”
Since then, they’ve been partners in sickness and in health, which has seen Pollan “there in the front lines with me every single day,” says Fox, speaking of Pollan’s attentiveness as he battled Parkinson’s disease. “She never pretends to know as much as I know. And the other thing Tracy does is, if there’s something funny, let’s get to the funny. We’ll deal with the tragic later.”
Together, these love birds are the parents of son Sam, 34, twins Aquinnah and Schuyler, 34, and Esmé, 21.
