During one of the most significant moments of his career, Michael J. Fox was grateful to have his entire family by his side. Beaming with joy, the actor, his wife, Tracy Pollan, and their twin daughters, Schuyler and Aquinnah, exuded a vibrant energy as they graced the 2023 Spring Moving Image Awards in New York City recently.
The actor, who had recently disclosed that his struggle with Parkinson’s disease has gotten harder, was honored with this year’s Lifetime Achievement Award at the event in recognition of his remarkable Hollywood career and unwavering commitment to finding a cure for Parkinson’s
In an official statement released last month, Ivan Lustig and Michael Barker, co-chairmen of the Museum of the Moving Image, made the announcement. “We are honored to present the MoMI Lifetime Achievement Award to the legendary Michael J. Fox, a great artist and inspiring human being,” it reads, “at our Spring 2023 Moving Image Awards benefit event.”
“His many contributions in film and television for over four decades have been memorable,” the statement reads further, “and meaningful and exemplary for so many who come through our Museum’s doors.”
The 61-year-old has been a dedicated family man ever since he tied the knot with his wife, Tracy, in 1988 after meeting during the production of Family Ties. Fox is a dad to his son, Sam, Twin daughters, Schuyler and Aquinnah, and Esme, his last child.
In February, the actor marked the occasion of his twins turning 28 by sharing a heartfelt post on Instagram. “Weeeeeeeeeeee! Happy Birthday Aquinnah and Schuyler,” Fox wrote in the caption alongside a couple of pictures of him and his daughters. “You guys live your best lives X 2! Love, Dood.”
Fox has also consistently emphasized the significance of receiving his family’s support throughout his journey with his condition. During an interview with Variety last month, he discussed his evolving coping mechanisms in dealing with the disease over time.
“My family pulled me out, I’m still happy to join the day and be a part of things. I just enjoy the little math problems of existence. I love waking up and figuring that stuff out and at the same time being with my family,” Fox admitted. “My problem is I fall down. I trip over things and fall down and break things. And that’s part of having this. But I hope that, and I feel that, I won’t break as many bones tomorrow.”
