The family actors form on the screen often become their family off of it. When Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan played mother and daughter in 2003’s Freaky Friday, they stayed connected far after the last call of “Cut!” Now, twenty years later, Lohan has given birth to her first child and Curtis is celebrating with all the gusto of becoming a grandmother herself.
On July 17, Lohan, 37, and her husband Bader Shammas, who she married in 2022, welcomed their first child together, a little boy named Luai. Luai was actually born in Dubai and his name means “shield or protector” in Arabic. Nothing is going to shield the family from Curtis’s excitement, though! Learn more about the happy occasion here.

Using an alliteration in reference to their big movie together, Curtis shared a social media post reading, “MAGIC MONDAY! My movie daughter just made me a movie grandmother.” The accompanying photo shows the two side by side, first from years ago on the set of Freaky Friday, and a larger image shows them in more recent times.

Lohan had first announced her pregnancy in March of this year, following a surprise wedding in April 2022. Sharing photos of the baby shower, Curtis cooed, “My friend and film daughter @lindsaylohan is growing up! So thrilled for her. What a mama she will be.”
Lohan’s family has reportedly been equally ecstatic, with a rep saying “The family is over the moon in love.”
For her part, Curtis is excited to remain a part of Lohan’s growing family on and off the screen. At the premiere of Glass Onion, she teased, “There would be nothing I would love more, honestly, than to be able to work with her again, share our time again, and now be able to share it at this age with both of us 20 years older, or whatever we are.”
If and when they do, they’ll both be parents this time! Congratulations to Lindsay Lohan and her family.
