Rod Stewart recently concluded his special summer UK shows which are part of his Global Hits Tour. The singer announced that the concerts will kick off at Home Park Stadium in Plymouth on Saturday, 24 June, and end with an unmissable show at Edinburgh Castle.
During the concluding concert for his UK Tour, the actor mesmerized fans and the audience again with his remarkable performance. To add glamour to the memorable occasion, the 78-year-old surprised his fans by inviting his 94-year-old sister, Mary, to join him on stage during his heartfelt rendition of the timeless 1975 song “Sailing.”
Stewart appeared dazzling as he rocked a stylish black and white striped shirt and a sequined jacket. During the show, his sister Mary elegantly stormed the stage holding a Scottish banner before placing a white sailor’s hat on the singer’s head.
In an interview with The Mirror, the 78-year-old expressed delight in having his sister by his side. “This is my sister! 94!” he told the news outlet. “At 94, she’s on a rock’n’roll stage and loving it. She has and continues to teach me about life.”
Stewart is the youngest of five siblings. In 1975, Stewart lost his older sister Peggy to multiple sclerosis as she tragically passed away at 40. Also, in 2022, the singer shared the news of his brother Bob’s passing at 88 years old, barely two months after their eldest brother Don’s death, who had reached 94, thus leaving Mary as the only surviving sibling.
“It’s with great sadness that I announce the loss of my brother Bob last night, who joins my brother Don on the great football pitch in the sky,” Stewart wrote in the caption of a November 2022 Instagram post. “I’ve lost two of my best mates in the space of two months. RIP Don and Bob.”
