Elton John Thanks Fans For ’52 Years Of Pure Joy’ As He Marks The End Of His Farewell Tour

Elton John bids a heartfelt farewell to his touring career after his last performance at his Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour on Saturday, July 8. The five-time Grammy winner commenced the tour in 2018 with the original plan to conclude in 2021 with significant stops in cities all over Europe and North America.

However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the event had to be postponed and continued in 2022. This tour has been widely promoted as the musician’s final tour, marking the end of a remarkable journey spanning over five decades of continuous touring.

The 76-year-old musician has concluded his final live tour with a poignant performance at the Tele2 Arena in Stockholm, Sweden, to mark the end of an extraordinary and inspiring musical journey.

The music legend took to the venue’s stage, captivating his fans with a two-and-a-half-hour set of unforgettable performances of his greatest hits, including an emotionally charged rendition of “Your Song.” The evening reached its pinnacle as he bid farewell with a powerful closing performance of “Goodbye Yellow Brick Road.”

At the end of the performance, the singer expressed his deepest gratitude to his dedicated fans for their unwavering support throughout his remarkable touring career. “I’ve had the most wonderful career, beyond belief. 52 years of pure joy playing music, how lucky am I to play music? But I wouldn’t be sitting here if it wasn’t for you, you bought the singles, albums, and CDs and more importantly you bought the tickets to the shows and you know how I love to play live,” he confessed to the audience. “It’s been my lifeblood to play for you guys and you’ve been absolutely magnificent – thank you. I will never forget you guys. I’ve played so many concerts, how could I forget? You’re in my head, heart, and soul, and I thank you so much.”

Also, in a statement made to Consequence after the show, John further thanked his fans who have remained loyal to his music throughout the years. “Every step of the way, my fans have been there. They have stuck with me, they have supported me, they have been patient, and they have kept turning out for every single last show,” he told the news outlet. “Tonight has been magical. I’m trying to process it, and I don’t think it will sink in for a while yet that I’m finally finished touring. I can’t tell you how much I’m going to miss the fans and how much their support has humbled me — it will stay with me forever.”
