Madonna Spotted In Public For First Time After ICU Health Scare

Madonna was spotted back in public for the first time since she had to stay overnight at the ICU. She had been found unresponsive in New York City and had been treated for a severe bacterial infection. Since then, she had been out of the spotlight.

Madonna was spotted on Sunday, July 9, coming from the Upper East Side of NYC. She was seen and photographed wearing her hair mostly concealed by a hat; she also wore large sunglasses, a comfortable, long, dark T-shirt, matching shorts, and bulky sneakers.

How is Madonna doing back in the public spotlight?

Guy Oseary, longtime manager for 64-year-old Madonna, announced on Instagram that she had been hospitalized on June 24. Since then, according to OK! Magazine, the paparazzi essentially camped out by her NYC apartment to get their first bit of news; Madonna had been able to return home before the end of the month but had stayed out of the public eye.

This weekend, however, she was seen walking around the city. “She looked really good,” an eyewitness claimed, “and seemed to be in good spirits. She walked a bit slow, but it looked like she really just wanted to get outside for a bit.”

News on Madonna’s health has been evolving and updating in real-time. She had just been set up to embark on her “Celebration” tour but has postponed several dates because of this health scare. Madonna is known for maintaining an intense and very full schedule, and by June 29, her friend and colleague Debi Mazar assured fans that “Madonna is on the mend and home resting.”

Just ahead of her bout in the ICU, Madonna had been firing at all cylinders. A source told ET that she was “doing well and feeling good in her rehearsals,” though sometimes her day didn’t end until 3 am.

Part of this is also by design. “She is a night person and normally sleeps during the day and then gets to work at night,” the source clarified. “She was starting around 5:00 p.m. and then could sometimes wrap everything around 3:30 a.m.”

Oseary had said on Instagram that “At this time we will need to pause all commitments, which includes the tour.” As of June 9, no further announcements regarding the tour have been made.
