In her memoir, A Little Thing Called Life: On Loving Elvis Presley, Bruce Jenner, and Songs in Between, Thompson recounted the incident and shared that the legendary musician’s daughter explained Priscilla’s unfavorable remarks. “Well,” Lisa Marie said, “My mommy says it’s because when she was married to my daddy, he didn’t take her anywhere, but my daddy takes you everywhere,” she wrote in the book. “You are always with my daddy, and my mommy never got to be with my daddy. So that’s why.”

The 73-year-old detailed in her book that despite learning about Priscilla’s disapproval of her, she was not upset by the revelation, instead, it gave her a deeper understanding of how Elvis treated the two women differently. “I knew the situation Lisa had described was quite true,” she wrote.
Thompson stated that the meeting went smoothly, and Priscilla eventually expressed her gratitude to her for being so kind and welcoming to Lisa Marie.
