Ahead of her upcoming celebrations tour, Madonna, who is known for perfection and diligence, has maintained a demanding six-day working week since April so as to give her fans the best of her. However, this has placed a strain on her health as the singer recently came down with an illness that led to her being admitted to the Intensive Care Unit for a couple of days.
A source close to Madonna told NBC News on June 28 that she had been moved out of the ICU and was on the path of recovery, while on June 29, another insider confirmed that Madonna is “back home and feeling better.”
On June 28, the news regarding Madonna’s illness surfaced when her manager, Guy Oseary, took to Instagram to make the announcement.
He disclosed that the 64-year-old had suffered a bacterial infection and had been admitted to the hospital but is on the path to recovery. “Madonna developed a serious bacterial infection which lead to a several day stay in the ICU,” Oseary wrote. “Her health is improving, however, she is still under medical care.”
To celebrate her impressive 40-year career in the entertainment industry, Madonna had scheduled the launch of her Celebration World Tour on July 15 in Vancouver, Canada. This highly anticipated tour was intended to be a special tribute to her four decades of remarkable contributions to the music and performance world.
However, her manager has revealed that the tour had been postponed indefinitely so as to allow the musician to recuperate. “A full recovery is expected. At this time, we will need to pause all commitments, which includes the tour,” Oseary admitted. “We will share more details with you soon as we have them, including a new start date for the tour and for rescheduled shows.”
