After the conclusion of the series, Schroeder transitioned into more mature roles and appeared in several other notable TV series, such as NYPD Blue, Scrubs, and Strong Medicine. In addition to his acting career, Schroder also forayed into directing and producing with his 2004 project Black Cloud which received positive reviews and won the Best Director Award at the San Diego International Film Festival.

Schroder was arrested in 1992 for domestic violence and charged with assault and battery after an altercation with his then-girlfriend, Andrea Bernard, with whom he later married and shares his four children, Holden, Luke, Cambrie, and Faith, with before calling off their relationship in 2016.

A source claimed that after the split, the actor’s life turned upside down as he indulged in constant partying, which led to dire consequences, especially his estrangement from his first daughter, Cambrie. However, the 53-year-old was arrested again for domestic violence against his girlfriend at the time in 2019, and he was mandated to pay a $50,000 bail, but the case was eventually dismissed.
