Fans Say ‘The Voice’ Will ‘Never Be The Same’ Following Blake Shelton’s Post About Reba McEntire

As Blake Shelton’s run on The Voice wraps up after twenty-three seasons, the singer has expressed how emotional he feels about his departure but not without a balance of wit and humor.

Recently, Blake posted a photo of himself and Reba in the recent season, along with one from the show’s premiere season in 2011. Blake and Reba also reminisced with footage from season one and season eight episodes. “I think we’ve weathered very well,” Reba remarked.

Fans ask that Reba takes Blake’s place

Many fans reacted to Blake’s touching post, affirming that the show cannot stay the same without him. “My heart breaks for Blake’s departure. The Voice will never be the same. #TeamBlake,” a fan wrote. “Awww, ya’ll. Making me happy & sad at the same time!” another added.

Some fans also asked that Reba replaces Blake on the show going forward. “Blake will be missed!!! Put Reba in his place,” someone advised. However, most viewers would be shocked to learn that Reba rejected the offer to be the coach in season one, and Blake was given the gig instead.

Why Did Reba turn down the offer to be a coach in 2011?

Reba told ET why she turned down the offer which eventually went to Blake in season one. “It was a very popular show in Holland, I’m pretty sure, and I watched the tape, and I said, ‘No, I’m going to pass on that,’” she said. “… I don’t think I could ever be able to tell somebody that they’re terrible… I couldn’t do that day in and day out. I just couldn’t do it.”

This season, Reba is on The Voice as a Mega mentor, as announced in February. The new season premiered in Early March, with Reba joined by A-list coaches— Chance the Rapper, Kelly Clarkson, Niall Horan, and Blake Shelton, who is now exiting the show.
